It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The Christmas season is something I look forward to every year (and now we can add our daughter's Christmas Eve birthday to the equation). Despite the commercialism that folks whine about, there's something you can't deny about that special feeling in your heart knowing that Christmas will soon be here. The lights going up on the houses, candy canes in your hot cocoa and of course, picking out the perfect gifts for friends and family. I love it all. I love driving from home to home on Christmas and how quiet the local roads are, especially if there is snow. Snow covers everything in a soft white blanket and seems to muffle out all other noises that we usually hear at other times of the year.

To get ready for the holiday season, I've been taking pictures of Elizabeth for our Christmas cards. Last year, I had them done professionally but since this year we're feeling a little bit strapped for cash, I decided to give it a shot. I'm going to use shutterfly.com: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/holiday-cards. I've ordered photo books from them before and they came out awesome. I figure I can't go wrong with them and there are always great promotions going on....

I have two photos to choose from - they came out the best. In one she has a pretty smile, in the other a cheesy, exaggerated one. I think I'll go with the latter. I'll show you them both. What do you think?

Almost 15 months!

Elizabeth is One!!

I know I've neglected my blog terribly so here is a recent picture of our little girl! This was taken on the day of her birthday party. It snowed so a few people couldn't come. The party was on December 20th but her birthday is actually Christmas Eve, December 24th.

In Other Baby News...

I'm just so excited I have to share. My fellow pregnant co-worker had her girl last night. Her name is Sabrina Jane and her and Elizabeth are exactly 7 weeks a part! When my co-worker comes back from maternity leave she'll be bringing Sabrina with her so my daughter will have an in-office first friend. We're so lucky to be able to have our girls here with us!

Elizabeth, One Month

Dumb

I just answered the door with Elizabeth and it was the annoying Verizon Fios salespeople. The woman says, "Is your mom or dad home?" I said, "No... I AM the mom and I'm not a teenager either, I'm 30." She apologized and I basically sent them on their way, that it wasn't a good time.

I said we didn't want to switch from Optimum because we want Howard Stern On Demand. They claimed Fios does. I just looked online and nope, they don't.
They were also confused because supposedly, they thought we were already Verizon customers at first. I'm so sick of them coming around! It's like the 4th time!

The Greatest Gift of All

My baby came early! On Christmas Eve at 2:49pm my beautiful baby GIRL, Elizabeth June came into the world!

She weighed in at 6 lbs., 15 oz. and was 19 1/4" long.

Jay and I are in LOVE.

It was a bit strange being in the hospital on Christmas but it was the best Christmas I ever had.

I Did It!

I performed in a show with the Bergen County Players in Oradell when I was still in college but never got past associate membership. You have a year to complete various tasks, jobs, etc... to become a full permanent member. I didn't have the time then to do it. It was always a lost dream to me, especially when they got more strict over the years. Now you can't audition for a show unless you're a regular member and you only have 2 chances to complete the requirements. This was it.

I just got this email last night:

I am pleased to inform you that the Exec Bd has approved your going forward to regular membership. This momentous occasion will happen tomorrow night. I hope you can make the meeting. It starts @ 8:30pm.

Yay!!

BIG 3-0!

It's hard to believe a lot of things these days - that Christmas is around the corner, 2008 is almost over, and my baby's almost here! Even more unbelievable? I'm a whopping 30 years old today! It isn't that being 30 is so bad, it's that I know how fast age 20 to age 30 went so that could only mean that 40 will get here even faster!

Britney Spears is also celebrating her birthday today only she's 27. She's having a big performance on Good Morning America to celebrate. Go her! I think this is finally the comeback we've been waiting for.

Tonight Jay and I are going to The Melting Pot for dinner - can't wait. I hope my sore throat feels better by then. I'm literally on my 4th cold in 2 months time!

Shower of Happiness

Even though I was extremely nervous at first, it was a really great time. SO many gifts, great food, and most of my family and friends were there. Jay was great when we finally lugged everything home. He right away hung things up and ran out for baby-friendly laundry detergent. We went through all the clothes, bedding and blankets and started washing them. So right now, we just have the biggest boxes stacked around the living room.

Everyone was so generous and we received many of the items on our registry but there's still more to get. My main priority is my glider :-) We have the perfect place for it in the room. We may go to Babies 'R' Us tonight to exchange some duplicate gifts in order to get it.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Kristine and Diana. Two of the greatest friends anyone could ever have. They did SO much to make the shower beautiful and fun! And the theme, "A Star is Born" was genius!

And of course a huge THANK YOU to my mom for insisting on the place and for picking up the tab. It was a wonderful, wonderful day.

My Shower's Tomorrow!!!!

I seriously hope my back feels better by then. I might've cracked a rib from coughing hard this week. Docs say there is no way to tell right now, all I can do is rest and take some pain meds. I've had to sleep sitting up on my couch for the last 2 nights! Hurts too much to lay down!

But even if all I can do is sit in a chair, it will be freakin' awesome! It's so exciting to know when your shower is!
