My Life in Pictures

I am LONG overdue for a worthwhile journal entry. It just seems I am always so gosh darn busy. This has been a truly eventful summer and I've taken a great deal of photographs which I will now share with you all. This summer, we finally got into our house, although, we aren't 100% yet. We need to put lots of molding up still. At least it's painted and ready to go. My kingdom for some blinds and curtains! Right now we have framed posters blocking out the sunshine in our room - not very effective I might add.

Besides our move and the big open house/housewarming that followed, we had our niece Ava's christening and Jay's Aunt Jean's wedding. It seemed like every weekend was something going on, but at least it was all good. Time spent with family and friends is the best time of all.

We didn't have any sort of vacation this summer but we are taking off this week to relax and take a few day trips - the Bronx Zoo, Jay, his dad, and his brother are going deep-sea fishing and I HOPE Jay and I make it to the Cloisters ( http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_of_art/introduction.asp?dep=7 ) I went here in high school and really enjoyed it. I went with the choir and we sang there. It is a beautiful place and I know that Jay would appreciate it. He's into medieval sort of stuff and the place is like an old castle with authentic medieval style garden and famous tapestries.

In a few weeks I will be having a garage sale. Kristine is going to help me because Jay wants no part of it, haha. It should be fun and we have lots of junk we truly don't need. I hope we get some donations too, to pad our inventory. I hope to make enough money to pay for invitations : )

Which brings me to my next subject - our wedding plans. Since I last wrote on this topic we have booked our honeymoon! We will be staying 7 nights at Ti Kaye in St. Lucia - www.tikaye.com . The place looks gorgeous and we will have our own oceanfront cottage with our own little pool. I cannot wait! We've also begun our registries with Macy*s and Bed, Bath, & Beyond. We need to add things to them but it's still early yet. It was fun although the woman at BB&B was not very nice. I could definitely write an entertaining entry about her. I plan on writing a letter of complaint to the company if I actually ever get around to it.

So, I've really been hating my job lately I'm sad to report. I've just been so overwhelmed that I start to feel completely stressed and depressed. I have so much on my shoulders and when I can't get everything done in a timely manner, I can't help but feel like a bad employee. I haven't even been able to take my lunch break or go to the gym there for weeks because of it. New Jersey is looking more and more appealing as I hate coming home around 8:15 on nights I get stuck there late.

GRANDPA update: After being in the hospital for a couple weeks with bilateral pneumonia, he is now in a rehabilition center for 2 more weeks to regain his strength and mobility. You can do it grandpa!

Well I've rambled on and on long enough. Sit back and enjoy the plentiful pics and be sure to "view larger" for best results!

Day of Remembrance

So True

Dear Lesley,
Here is your horoscope
for Monday, September 11:

There's a time to stand and fight, and that time is now. This endless cycle of push-me-pull-you was fine for a while, but now you need a resolution -- and fast. State your demands and then take action.

Here is our living room right now! The 2 chairs are only temporary, and yes I know we need molding around the windows!

Never a Dull Moment

My grandpa is in the hospital. His doctor called late last night and told my parents that he had over 102 temp and bronchitis. He really wanted him to go to the hospital but my grandpa kept refusing. Dr. feared it could develop into pneumonia. My dad had to get a prescription antibiotic and bring it to him like 11pm. When my dad got there, my grandpa was nauseous and throwing up. It was then decided to get him to Valley Hospital. My dad didn't get home until 4am.

So Much To Say!

The big news right now is that our house is close to being finished, but we'll be moving in before it's 100%.

Jay and I took off last week and spent every day from morning til' night working our butts off! We ended the week feeling like we needed a vacation from our vacation! We managed to pack up most of Jay's things and schlep them over with the help of family and friends. It was exciting seeing the place finally starting to look like a home! We also went out and put on the closet materials and over the last 2 days, Jay and his sister Randi assembled all the shelving. This weekend we picked up a refrigerator from Kristine's parents' house and spent hours cleaning it only to have it only blow hot air - ugh. We are having a repair come check it out this week so hopefully it's not an expensive fix.

Let's see, what else, what else...Jay moved his large, corner aquarium over to the house and set it up with the help of Scott. It looks great! And finally people will be able to enjoy it since it's in a better location than it was before.

I got a few hydrangea stems and stuck them in a basket of ivy in the bathroom. This is truly exciting to me as it adds to the whole hydrangea theme I'm trying to work in there!

This Friday we are getting cable, telephone, and internet set up - this is THE reason we aren't living there yet! We can't live without those necessities - primarily the TV, LOL! We already got our phone number and while it kinda sucks, I was able to make a word out of some of the numbers, so that should make it easier to remember.

OH YEAH!

I almost forgot! I got my wedding dress!!! On Saturday, July 24th, Kristine, my mom, and I went to Macy's Bridal Salon in Wayne because there was a specific dress I wanted to try on and when we saw it in person, it was hideous!! That was a disappointment but even more so than that was when I tried on the most gorgeous dress ever. Here it is, but the roses were a delicate pink: http://www.demetriosbride.com/us/collections/couture_05/highres/1273A.jpg WELL, after trying it on 2x and deciding it was "the one," Kristine looked at the price tag and her jaw dropped. It was OVER $4000!! I was dejected. I would never spend that much on a dress even if my parents were willing too. The saleslady felt bad and said she'd take 20% off and throw in a veil, but still, it wasn't doable.

We went to TGIF's for lunch and I mentioned that there was a David's bridal across the street somewhere, according to someone I spoke to on theknot.com. I called them and asked if we could come by and we did. I didn't like the greeter at the store and she instantly made me want to turn around and leave. GOOD THING I DIDN'T!

We asked for anything with pink and I tried a couple dresses on but wasn't happy - I was still bummed about the other $$$ dress. My mom asked me to just try on one more so I reluctantly agreed. I loved it! After I put it on, I didn't want to take it off! I asked for a bridesmaid dress that would match and they pulled one that we admired when we first walked in! Camps tried it on and looked great! I really felt like a bride then : ) We found shoes for the girls too!

Later in the week Diana ordered hers all the way from Tennessee! She's having it come to the Wayne, NJ store and her mom will pick it up. Last Friday, I went with Randi and Shara and they ordered theirs too! It's so nice to have another big thing DONE! And well done I might add!  ; )

Phew... that was a lot of writing early in the morning!
